Arguing with Idiots: How to Stop Small Minds and Big Government Review
While I have heard of Mr.Beck and seen him on TV a few times, this is the first book of his that I have read. I found ARGUING WITH IDIOTS filled with facts that I have never seen in the mass media. His viewpoints are well explained and balanced (although he gives too much negative air time to lowly Obermann who will define fifteen minutes of fame). Mr. Beck and his staff are well versed in the well organized chapters on various pertinent topics. He combines insightful truths and opinions on very serious matters with a light hearted often self deprecating humor. This combination makes the book scary and yet entertaining. Scary in the disclosure of matters like the teachers union and entertaining on the additional boxes that appear on each page with anecdotes.
The page spread of 'steps needed to fire a teacher in NYC' is amazing in it's complexity and frightening in it's reality. When only 0.26% of a profession are relieved of their duties, like teachers, why bother with the facade of a meritocracy in teaching our children? If we allow this lapse to repeatedly occur, how can we expect the future for America to improve? We have allowed a union to support lack of performance in teachers. Frightening.
Mr. Beck tries to paint a positive picture of America's future and even offers some means to accomplish this, but I finished the book still struggling to believe that this designed Republic is a chaotic Democracy and soon a Socialist country that may not successfully compete globally unless more people act to change recent trends. Mr. Beck gives me hope there is a possibility of positive change, but the truth that appears daily often refutes his sometimes optimistic view of such a future.
This book is a must read for people in America. Unfortunately too many who need to hear many of these facts will never be exposed to them in the one-sided media of today. Read this book America. Debate on the facts. Avoid the purveyors of slanted emotions that hide balance and that Mr. Beck so skillfully and humorously exposes in this very good and important book.

Glenn Beck is Hilarious and informative and the book just proves that in doesn't bash liberals it bashes Failed policies,if any 1star paid liberal reviewer or hateful person would actually get past the title and cover then they could read for themselves, enlighten themselves,I don't listen to Beck alot or as much as I would like to,I see no problem with what he says, compare him to Someone who says "Worst Person in The World" and you will feel good that your on the Right side literally. From Amtrak to LBJ'S Great Society and to why Communism/Socialism doesn't work and how well intentioned Policies can leave to disaster,He even Mentions Nixon see Not so Bad after all To those of you on the left.

Interesting points that made me think. I like the authors wittiness and appreciate that he tells it like it is.

Here comes the charlatan who has never volunteered for military service, but who "condescends" to adorn himself in military attire, packaging and then selling himself as a patriot to his ignorant, slobbering worshippers.
In a typical non-scholarly fashion, the book embodies its author's challenges in the areas of truth, reasoning and facts. In years gone-by, the Conservative movement had credible gatekeepers of truth such as William Buckley. It is a pity that America is now tolerating the triumph of ignorance, anti-intellectualism and bold celebrations of wholesale stupidity. Our enemies need not do anything but sit back and watch in amusement as we self-destruct in hallucinatory inanities. A true American patriot is the one who rejects and speaks out against shallow rantings of this nature. Make no mistake, ignoring the fool can be dangerous.

If you are into political discussions and blogging on events, this is a must reference book packed full of facts, verified occurances, political blunders, and political history. It can be read as a whole book or a page at a time filled with antidotes and factual information and source material. This book contains information and data that will amaze people and shock them as it exposes behind the door decisions and back door moves that truly undermine our poltical process and contradicts much of the political spoken words and promises. It explains why America is upside-down as a country and why things do not seem to work. You will laugh, cry, be shocked, and be angry at what has happened and why things are happening, and what makes politics and events turn sour.
