"Father Ted" (BBC Audio) Review

"Father Ted" (BBC Audio) Overview

This title presents four hilarious episodes from the first and second series of Channel 4's brilliant and surreal television comedy show starring Dermot Morgan, Ardal O'Hanlon, Frank Kelly and Pauline McLynn. 'Situation comedy at its best' - "The Times". In "A Song For Europe", inspired by Dougal's enthusiasm and driven on by his rivalry with Father Dick Byrne, Ted enters the Eurosong Contest with a 'borrowed' tune. In "The Plague", when Bishop Brennan, who has an intense rabbit phobia, visits Craggy Island, Dougal's new pet rabbit Sampras must be kept well hidden. But a sudden proliferation of rabbits leads to a crisis situation. "The Passion of St. Tibulus" - when a highly controversial movie, banned by the Pope, is shown on Craggy Island, Bishop Brennan calls on Ted and Dougal's support to get the film withdrawn. "Cigarettes and Alcohol and Rollerblading" - as Lent arrives, Ted gives up cigarettes, Jack gives up drink and Dougal gives up rollerblading. But when they fall at the first hurdle, they ask for help from a strict order of militant nuns.
